Welcome to The Modern Domestic! This online magazine started as the idea of taking a 50's home magazine and updating it for the modern woman. As time flies by, the definition of a domestic has evolved with the digital age, working women and changing social norms. A woman no longer spends her day in the kitchen, greets her husband in heels and pearls, and studies etiquette rather than for a career. Today's woman balances a life of independence and homemaking, traditional domestic skills with fun twists. We cook dinner, surf the web, knit fashionable garb, equal men and still manage to be the graceful hostess. Sadly, many domestic skills are slowly slipping away. So many women say "I can't cook, so I'll just get take out" or "I don't have time to be crafty". This magazine is for every woman: the domestic goddess that cooks, cleans, knits, crochets, has a garden, and throws elegant parties to the slightly lost college graduate in her first apartment trying to learn how to make it on her own.
You will find articles on the various facets of our lives. Recipes, craft patterns, editorials, and more blend together in one place. We hope you enjoy the resources available! Thank you for joining us. |
